I’m sure you’re wondering what exactly makes this The Ultimate Christmas Appetizer Spread. It’s not full of crazy, creative Pinterest appetizers. Let’s be real – they aren’t even served on the prettiest platters. What makes this spread ‘ultimate’ is the fact that it took me 15 minutes total to set everything up. I’m all about convenience. With several blogs and social media channels to manage, a one-year-old, a puppy, and a home that constantly needs to be cleaned, I don’t have very much time to spare. I don’t have several hours to devote to making appetizers alone. And how disappointing is it when you have friends and family over, and by the end of the day you realize you barely even saw them because you spent all day in the kitchen? Unless you have a family member you’re avoiding, it’s a total bummer.
Here’s what I set out:
- Croissant sandwiches
- Gourmet Nut Roll by Gingerbread House
- Green Olives
- Creme filled wafers
- Assorted cheeses
- Hard salami
- Spinach dip with baby carrots, bell peppers, broccoli, and celery.
I’m not going to lie to you, I bought those croissant sandwiches pre-made for $10. I’m pretty frugal, but $10 isn’t a big deal to me. It saved even more time, which is awesome! And I’m not even confident that I would have saved any money if I bought everything separately.
The cheeses are a must, right? What’s an appetizer spread without some soft cheese and crackers? And of course, veggies and spinach dip. I didn’t buy that pre-made because I already had everything I needed at home, but you could save even more time that way. Cutting up the bell pepper and celery was the most time-consuming part of this, and it only took me a few minutes.
Now, for the star of the show: The Gourmet Nut Roll by Gingerbread House! Talk about convenient and delicious! I can’t get over it, seriously! It arrived at my house a few days ago, I stuck it in the fridge and it tastes like it was made yesterday. You take it out of the package (which is lovely, by the way), cut it up, and serve! It couldn’t be any easier!
The best part about the nut roll? It’s made by a small family-owned bakery in Amherst, Ohio. I’m not against buying from big companies, but you all know I love love LOVE supporting small businesses. Being a blogger isn’t as different as owning a small business as you might think. I didn’t take supporting small shops very seriously until about 2 years ago because I never took the time to think about the impact we have on their business, compared to buying from large companies. Now that I understand the importance of buying from small family-owned businesses, I’m all about it. The service is incredible too! The owner of this bakery, Nick, is so friendly! And how do I know that? Because they’re extremely involved in their business. I can’t recommend them enough.
The gourmet nut roll would make a wonderful gift when you’re attending parties this holiday season, or you can use it for your own get-together! I’m definitely going to bring one to my mom’s house when we visit this Christmas. I know everyone will love it!
