Make your home smell like Autumn with this DIY Fall Simmering Pot!
Oh my goodness, I wish you could have smelled my home when I had this simmering pot going. The only downside is that it tricks everyone into thinking you’re making them a treat. (Sorry hubby, there’s no pie in the oven). I can’t wait to get this going again when we have everyone over for Thanksgiving. It will add to the amazing smell of turkey, dressing, pumpkin pie… My mouth is watering! It’s also super convenient because you can stick some leftover ingredients in a mason jar to save for later, or to give away as a gift. You can add water if it’s going to be used soon, or just seal the dry ingredients. So, what’s in it?
What To Add To Your Simmering Pot:
- Sliced red apples
- Orange peels or orange slices
- Cinnamon sticks
- Whole Cloves
- Bay Leaves
- Tsp Vanilla Extract
- Tsp Almond Extract
- Tsp Ground Nutmeg
Don’t be afraid to mix and match! You certainly don’t have to add all of the ingredients I used. Sliced apple, cinnamon and orange peels would suffice, but the main ingredient I suggest adding is whole cloves. They’re pretty much the embodiment of Autumn as far as smell goes.
To make your home smell better than it ever has:
- Place the ingredients of your choosing in a pot and fill with water.
- Cover and bring to a boil.
- Remove the lid and lower to heat til the mixture is simmering and enjoy!
- Add water when necessary.
You can stick it in the fridge and reuse it for a couple of days!
