This activity is so simple and fun. You can get a couple of balloons from the floral department of your local grocery store for just a couple of bucks, and your baby will have a few days worth of fun!
You just loosely tie the balloons around their ankles and they’ll watch the balloons bounce around when they kick. It’s adorable! It kept Marshall busy for quite some time. This activity is perfect for 2-5 month olds, depending on what skills they have. I would stop doing this activity after your baby is rolling over, or if they’re grabbing at their feet, just as a safety precaution. And it probably goes without saying, but this is a supervised activity. The latex that the balloons are made out of is a serious choking hazard, and the ribbon could easily wrap around places it shouldn’t be. So make sure you stay within arms reach.
Around this age, babies are working on all kinds of new skills, including kicking. When you take something they’re developing and add a new sensation to it, it helps them learn. They have fun while they do it, too! Win, win!
